Help to make Association for abandoned dogs / cats in Ceglie Messapica

by , in

Hundreds of dogs and cats are left to die in the territory of Ceglie Messapica (BR), since no one has ever taken up the problem of tediousness and what is involved. Many strays are, unfortunately, poisoned, invested, mistreated. Very few volunteers in the area who, while putting our souls and even our own savings, can not cope with the emergency.

The municipality of Ceglie Messapica should intervene absolutely. Help us, with your signature, to make it clear to those who do not want the foundation of an animal rights association in the territory of Ceglie Messapica, as well as to benefit the same animals, would benefit the same territory.

Stop Cruel Muscular Dystrphy Tests on Dogs

by , in
At Texas A&M University, experimenters led by Joe Kornegay breed golden retrievers to develop different types of muscular dystrophy (MD), including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), which is a particularly severe disease. These diseases ravage their bodies, causing progressive muscle wasting and weakness. Studies with these dogs haven’t led to a cure or even a treatment to reverse disease symptoms, even after experimenting for 30 years.

Dogs used for experimental purposes

Dogs who didn't have the disease but carried the DMD gene were used for breeding. Deprived of loving homes, they frantically paced the slatted floors and bit the bars of small cages in frustration. They didn't even have the comfort of a blanket.

To gauge just how much a dog's muscles have deteriorated, Kornegay has invented a crude technique that could pass for medieval torture: He repeatedly stretches them with a motorized lever in order to cause muscle tears.

Kornegay has been at this for more than 30 years. Puppies in his laboratory who are born with DMD are so weak at birth that they require extra nutrition. By 6 weeks of age, their hind limbs have shifted forward, making walking difficult, and some are unable to open their mouths or jaws.

Illness caused by the tests
You Can Help Put an End to the Needless Suffering!
Please urge Texas A&M University to close their dog laboratories, stop breeding MD dogs, release all dogs for adoption into good homes, redirect their resources into humane research methods and these useless labs need to stop.

Stop Horrific "Dog" Spinning Ritual

by , in

Every year on March 6th, residents of a village in Bulgaria perform a horrific act called "dog spinning” in the mistaken belief that this will prevent rabies and keep away evil spirits. During this cruel ritual, a rope is tied around a dog's chest, and the dog is suspended above a body of water. The dog is twisted until the rope is as tight as it will get, pressing painfully into the poor animal. Then, the rope is released, and the dog spins around wildly. Before the dog even has a chance to catch its breath, it's dumped into the freezing water.

Dog spinning ritual
Participants say that the dogs are not harmed during this ritual, but that's completely false. Some dogs have drowned because they're too disoriented to swim to the surface of the water. The dogs who survive are terrified and traumatized by their ordeal. The ritual was officially banned by the Bulgarian government in 2006, but the law is not enforced, and people continue performing the sadistic ritual.
For years, animal advocates in Bulgaria have tried to put an end to this atrocity, desperately urging villagers to use stuffed dogs instead. But until police officers start enforcing the ban on the practice, it will keep happening, and more dogs will suffer and  die. Sign this petition to tell the Bulgarian ambassador to the United States that you do not want any more dogs tortured and killed  in this  cruel “spinning” ritual.

End the Horrific Dog & Cat Meat Trade in Nagaland

by , in
Shocking new images have emerged of the cruel dog meat trade in Nagaland, India, where terrified stray dogs and stolen family pets are tied up, stuffed into sacks so they cannot move and transported -- sometimes tied to the roof of a car -- to restaurants where brutal slaughter awaits.
The appalling new photos were taken by photographer and dog lover Surabhi Jaiswar, who documented the cruelty in the hope that "animal activists take action." And now, it is up to us to speak out against the horror and work to save more dogs from torture and death.
Dog meat trade in Nagaland
Dog and cat meat are outlawed in India; however, the slaughter notoriously continues in this region. In 2016, Humane Society International investigated the "Nagaland nightmare" and found the same extreme brutality.
Some smugglers even stitched the dogs' mouths shut to muffle the animals during illegal transport.
The abuse must not go on. Sign now to urge the Chief Minister of Nagaland to enforce the dog and cat meat ban at once and file criminal charges against anyone caught engaging in this horrific trade.

Save Doja From Being Killed.....!!!

by , in
My heart hurts for my Doja! She was issued an order to destroy from MACC. I filed an appeal and attended a hearing 8/14. I received notice on 8/16 that the destruct order is upheld. I still believe Doja can be saved and have retained an Attorney to assist with apealing the ruling to the MN Court of Appeals.

Doja has been in a 3 x 4 enclosed kennel at MACC for 20 days now and will remain alive in quarentine until we beat this. I visit Doja often which are limited to 5mins - she is very sad and wants to come home! I know she misses her Kitty-Koo, furry friend Sushi, and King Charles Cavalier BF, Charley!

Doja
I made Doja a promise 12 years ago - a promise to show her the love she deserves! Unfortunately Doja has biten people in the past due to provoked situations. March of 2016 she was declared dangerous by MACC. A troubled person going through a divorce and wrongfully filed for unemployment. This person claims my dog bit her - but I believe the marks were self inflicted. This person attempted to blackmail me in hopes I would lie and say she worked for my DJ Company. Not only is that considered unethical and illegal but it was NOT something I wanted to be apart of. If I didn't agree to help this person, she threatened my dog would pay the price. I filed police reports against this person and was approved a no trespassing and a no contact order. This incident shouldn't have counted against Doja but MACC didn't seem to care.

This recent incident Doja's leash & required muzzle snapped and she approached a man who immediately started to kick her. She reacted by biting him - the man said he was ok and walked away. Shortly after the man came back with a nurse - turns out he is a mentally ill patient in a group home close to where I live. Seeing that the man is under their care they legally had to report it. MACC came shortly after and she has been in their facility ever since.

I am very thankful for the love and support my friends, family, relatives, co-workers, and complete strangers have showed during the past few weeks.

This whole process has not only been very stressful but expensive as well.

$2,500 to hire an attorney who specializes in animal law.

$1,000 estimated impound and daily kennel fee's as she continues to be in custody.

$400 for fines and penalties resulting from the incident.

$500 filing fees

Please help in any amount you can and please help spread the word for Doja so we can bring her home or have her released to an animal sanctuary.
