Meet Debjit Chaudhuri, A Resident of Kolkata,India feeds strays in Kolkata. He takes care of 20 or so stray dogs that live near his neighborhood, providing them with the food they so desperately need.
Chaudhuri, 25, is a Magician and YouTuber. Growing up with 2 stray dogs as pets, he had a strong love for dogs. He fed the stray dogs of his neighborhood whenever he could but at the start of the year, he announced on his social media pages that his New Year’s resolution was to feed stray dogs every day.
Since then he feeds the stray dogs once a day, making a total of 3 stops along two different routes. When he pulls up to one of his regular stops, the dogs usually know him by the sound of his car. “A few of them are really friendly,” he said. “I can hug and play with them. But some are really scared. The best feeling is when you have a scared dog come up to you and lets you touch them and hug them. It can take weeks, but when it happens, it’s amazing.”
Seeing Chaudhuri’s efforts, Loyal Pet Zone, an Indian online pet store, supplied him free dog food so that all the dogs can be well fed.
Chaudhuri stated “One of the highlights of my day is when I see the look on the dog’s faces when they see me come. But deep down I knew I was only helping a few dogs and wasn’t making much of a difference. One day, my friend suggested doing what I do best – to make a video!”
So Debjit and his friend, Rohit Gupta, took a day off from work and traveled around the city filming him feed 100 dogs one-by-one, in hopes of inspiring more people to feed stray dogs and to also show how friendly they are.
